Who we are

A small academic publishing programme, built around three journals in law.

Standard Law Academic is the academic publishing programme of Standard Law. It provides the publishing framework for the Acta journals: production, hosting, metadata, and the practical support of an editorial office.

The programme is being developed deliberately. All three journals are in preparation, no issue has yet been published, and no editorial names, publication dates, metrics, or indexing claims are presented before they can be verified. This is a pre-launch website: it describes what the press is building, not achievements already completed.

Accurate by design

Information that has not been confirmed is presented as “to be announced” or “to be added.” The site will be updated when editorial and publication arrangements are confirmed.

What we publish

Three journals, each with its own disciplinary remit and editorial arrangements.

The portfolio covers criminal law and criminal justice, private law, and administrative law. Each journal publishes original scholarship in its field, including research articles, review essays, and book reviews. The journals are international in outlook and are intended for readers across jurisdictions and traditions.

Acta Juris Criminalis

Criminal law doctrine, social-science approaches, comparative and international criminal law, and criminal justice.

Acta Juris Civilis

Private law doctrine, property and obligations, family and succession, and comparative private law.

Acta Juris Administrativi

Administrative law doctrine, procedure and litigation, regulation and governance, and comparative public law.

All three journals

Open access, published online, with no APC at present. No issue has yet been published.

The journal portfolio page provides the full scope and status of each title.

Editorial independence

Editorial decisions belong to the journals, not to the operator.

Each journal’s editors decide what is published. Standard Law Academic provides publishing services and does not direct editorial judgment. The separation between editorial and operational decisions will be set out in each journal’s editorial policy.

The press does not present provisional lists of editors or advisers. Editorial appointments will be published only after they are confirmed and consented to, and the full editorial team of each journal will be published before that journal opens for submissions.

No editorial names yet

No editorial appointment should be inferred from this website. Appointments will be announced on the relevant journal site.

The Acta series

Separate journals, shared publishing standards.

The journals are not three imprints of a single editorial formula. Each has its own scope, editorial team, and review arrangements. They share a publishing framework: open access, online distribution, no APC at present, and a common two-column LaTeX template for manuscript preparation.

The series name, Acta, signals the journals’ purpose: to publish scholarship that deserves to be recorded. It does not imply a common doctrinal or methodological position. The journals are free to develop their own intellectual identities.

  • Acta Juris Criminalis — criminal law and criminal justice
  • Acta Juris Civilis — private law
  • Acta Juris Administrativi — administrative law

Standards & governance

The press is organised around a small number of commitments, not a list of claims.

Editorial standards

Each journal will publish its review model, criteria for selection, and editorial responsibilities before submissions open. The press expects rigorous assessment, clear reasons for decisions, and confidentiality in review.

Publication ethics

The journals will adopt policies on authorship, conflicts of interest, research integrity, corrections, and retractions. These policies will be published by each journal and will apply to editors, reviewers, and authors.

No premature claims

The press does not display journal metrics, indexing badges, acceptance rates, or editorial names before they can be verified. No indexing, abstracting, or impact metric is claimed at this stage. Applications to relevant indexes will follow publication of the first issues.
